Top Laptops in 2022. 2 Minute Knowledge
A laptop is a portable electronic device in which any data can be input or output. It has become an essential part of our life and technology.
But this readily available device was once elusive. The first computer was invented. After four generations of computer inventions, the fifth generation of laptops came out.
The first computer was invented by Charles Babbage (1822) but was not built until 1991. ENIAC was the first electronic digital computer. The Micral N was the world's first personal computer(1973).
The first generation (1946-1959) technology was a vacuum tube
as the basic components for memory and circuitry for the CPU. It was unreliable and
supported machine language only. It was very costly and huge size. It slowly
takes input and gives output data. It was non-portable and consumed a lot of
electricity.
The component used in The second generation(1959-1965) is a transistor. It was more reliable and small than the first generation. Generated less
heat and consumed less electricity than the first generation. It is also costly and AC is needed. It supports machine and Assembly language only.
In the Third generation (1965-1971) IC (integrated circuit)
component was used. More reliable than the previous two. it was smaller in size. It
generated less heat and was faster than the previous two generations. Generated less
heat and supports high-level language. But still costly and AC is needed.
The fourth generation (1971-1980) improved a lot. It used VLSI technology. Its cost was very cheap and smaller in size. In this generation, no AC is needed. It was portable and reliable, used by PC. This generation introduced the internet and developed a lot of networks. Computers become easily available.
And the last one Fifth generation (1980- onwards) Where we are belonging. ULSI technology is used in this age. Developed in true artificial intelligence and natural language processing. It advanced parallel processing. It become more available and cheap. In this generation laptops, desktops, and notepads were invented. Laptops have made computer usage more dynamic.
In 1976, an American computer scientist named Alan Kay gave the idea of making the first laptop. The laptop model made by him is called Xerox Note Taker. However, he did not reveal his laptop concept to the public. Later, a man named Adam Osborne invented the first laptop in 1981. The name of his invented laptop was Osborne-1.
