#The Immortal Animal
'He who is born, must die at some point. '
This applies to every animal. Everyone knows that death is inevitable at birth. This process of birth and death has been felt by animals since the beginning of creation. However, even in this huge animal kingdom, there is a type of animal which can be called 'immortal'.
What are you wondering? Yes, that's the kind of animal we have. But they are not aliens. This world is also the abode of that creature.
And that animal is the 'backward aging jellyfish' Zoologists identify it as Turritopsis dohrnii.
According to zoologists, this animal, although not completely, has gained immortality
Scientists call this small species of immortal jellyfish 'immortal jellyfish'.
This immortal creature is found in the Mediterranean Sea and the Sea of โโJapan.
Biologically, this immortal jellyfish was discovered in the 180's Although jellyfish were discovered in the 180's, they did not prove to be 'immortal' for 100 years. 100 years later, in the 1990s, this species of jellyfish became known as the 'Immortal Jellyfish'.
Let's take a look at the life cycle of this immortal jellyfish.
Like most hydrozoa, jellyfish begin their life as larvae.
At first the male jellyfish release sperm on the bottom of the sea. From there some sperm enters the body of the female jellyfish. Then the ovum and sperm mate. Shortly afterwards, a free-swimming jellyfish larva, called a planula, was born. The planula swims deeper into the ocean and at some point reaches the bottom of the ocean and finds refuge in one of the rocks. The planula then changes shape and forms into many branched polyps. From this polyp is born a small umbrella-like body and many farmed full-bodied jellyfish. After a week, these jellyfish reach sexual maturity. They turn into male or female jellyfish. And this stage of jellyfish is called medusa or sexual stage. Then their size is 4.5 mm. But the funny thing is that the immortal jellyfish can return to the polyp stage from this medusa stage. In this way, when the medusa becomes a polyp, both the body and the cortex of the jellyfish shrink and become like a ball. The medusa can then give birth to a nest at the bottom of the ocean and, like normal polyps. Under normal circumstances but this transformation does not happen. This transformation is only possible when the medusa is injured, if the surrounding conditions are unfavorable, if there is a lack of food or if there is any such danger. Countless times they can be transformed in this way.
If there is any danger of death, it takes the opposite path of old age. This means that these jellyfish can only die when they are eaten by a large fish or when they become infected.
What? Surprised?
Wondering, is it at all possible to be immortal?
Yes, literally this species of jellyfish has made itself 'immortal'
There is no shortage of disagreements among scientists as to why this species of jellyfish is immortal.
Various researchers have done research on immortal jellyfish
And everyone has a different opinion. One such research team is National Geographic and another is K Roy Sarkar, a scientist from Abbey, Massachusetts, USA. They have expressed their views and tried to explain why this species of jellyfish is immortal.
Let's find out what National Geographic and K Roy Sarkar said.
National Geographic: 'If any part of the body of this jellyfish is injured, or falls ill. They immediately go into a 'polyp' state. The mucous membrane forms around the polyp and forms a cocoon. In this polyp condition they last up to three days. Scientists are surprised to learn that the jellyfish transforms all the cells of the body into new cells during this time. And the age is reduced. In this way, they prevent old age by repeatedly transforming themselves.
โ K Roy Sarkar: 'Immortal, they can delay their age through cell transformation. Regenerating flatworms are also immortal in that respect. If any part of their body is cut into two pieces, two separate flatworms are formed. Although the age of the body, the age of the organ does not increase in the case of study turtles.
The 'immortal jellyfish' is an animal that can reduce its age And so they can survive as long as they are not hurt by others.
If this 'immortal jellyfish' had not been killed by another, then perhaps the jellyfish would have become a 'completely immortal' creature on this earth.
