Dutch scientist Christian Huygens invented the first pendulum clock in 1665. The world's first clock was invented about 1300 years ago It took about 800 years to come from large to small wrists. It isn’t less time. The first watches were made in France or Italy.

The 24-hour dial has Roman numerals on the outer band and Hindu-Arabic numerals on the inner one. From the 16th century inventors and engineers were developing a watch. Mechanical watches are powered by winding a mainspring which turned gears and then moved the hands.
